THISMIGHTBEFUN visualises the joy that comes after perseverance; when you force yourself to see your friends even though you feel anxious, when you put yourself forwards for a job you don’t think you’ll get, when you show up at the studio feeling flat. Yards of canvas lay on the floor of the studio collecting the remanence of day-to-day routine; developing a distinct history through haphazard marks.
THISMIGHTBEFUN is an amalgamation of the learnt and the unlearnt; with pictorial mementos of the past stooped in conversation with complex narratives of insecurity and a desire to fit in. Titles and text offer glimpses of clarity and act as guide ropes to understanding the maelstrom of colour, motif and layers presented. The work is complex; a fog of maverick joviality over quiet introspection.
